David L. Shuman

David L. Shuman

David L. Shuman is a founding member of Shuman, McCuskey & Slicer, P.L.L.C., a West Virginia law firm with offices in Charleston and Morgantown, West Virginia. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1969, received his J.D. from West Virginia University in 1972, and was admitted to the West Virginia Bar in 1972. Mr. Shuman’s practice has focused on defending healthcare providers for over thirty (30) years. Prior to being one of the founding members of Shuman, McCuskey & Slicer, P.L.L.C., Mr. Shuman was the founding member of Shuman, Annand & Poe, a litigation firm in Charleston, West Virginia. David is a charter member of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and served on the board of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia during the formative years of the organization from 1991 to 1997. In 1991, he was selected for membership in the prestigious International Association of Defense Counsel. David has been a frequent lecturer to physicians and dentists on issues related to Professional Liability and Risk Management. David has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer in the publication of Super Lawyers in West Virginia and Virginia.

Rick Jones

Rick Jones

Mr. Jones is an original member of Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso and has been an integral part in the growth of the firm from its original six members to over fifty lawyers in three separate cities in the State of West Virginia. Rick obtained his J.D., at College of Law, West Virginia University (1981). Prior to attending lawschool, he received his B.S in Economics from West Virginia University, College of Business and Economics (1976).

Rick concentrates his civil litigation practice in the areas of medical malpractice defense, products liability defense, complex and mass tort litigation, and commercial litigation. He has extensive experience in defending physicians and hospitals in medical negligence cases. Mr. Jones also has extensive experience in representing health care organizations in matters relating to privileging and credentialing, as well as matters arising from CLIA and HCQIA. Additionally, he has extensive experience in representing and defending manufacturers of a wide variety of products. His commercial experience has included representation of a variety of businesses and corporations in litigation-related matters.
