Joel is a founding partner of Steed, Flagg, Lamberth. He graduated from Baylor University in 1981, received his JD from Baylor School of Law in 1983 and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983. Joel's practice has focused on defending healthcare providers for over 25 years. He was elected as an Advocate to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Joel serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. He was selected as Best's Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys and Texas Monthly's Super Lawyer, Insurance Defense, 2003 to the present.
David is a shareholder of Cooper & Scully. He graduated from the University of Texas of Austin in 1989, received his JD from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1992 and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1992. David is a trial lawyer specializing in complex litigation, with a primary focus on medical malpractice defense. David has managed and tried numerous lawsuits involving catastrophic injuries and death cases for physicians and hospitals. David is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was selected in Texas Monthly's Super Lawyers, 2009.
Brent is a founding partner of Cooper & Scully, P.C. He graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1977 and received his undergraduate degree from Texas A & M University, summa cum laude. Brent Cooper focuses his practice on commercial litigation, insurance litigation, and appellate practice. He has had significant experience in the representation of clients before federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings. He has tried numerous cases covering areas of business litigation, construction litigation, catastrophic personal injuries, complex litigation, intellectual property, constitutional and business tort cases. In his 30 years of practice, he has been at the forefront of appellate law.
Brent is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law. He has testified before the House Civil Practice committee and the Senate State Affairs committee with respect to the legislation which is now House Bill 4. He is a frequent lecturer, having spoken on insurance litigation, coverage, and bad faith at seminars for the State Bar of Texas, University of Houston Law Center, South Texas College of Law, and the University of Texas School of Law. He is coauthor of Cooper, Hensley & Marshall's Texas Rules of Civil Procedure Annotated. He has written numerous articles for law reviews and legal publications.
Diana is a shareholder at Cooper & Scully. She graduated from the University of Houston, magna cum laude, in 1992 and received her J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law, cum laude. She was admitted to the Texas bar in 1992. Diana served as Briefing Attorney to the Hon. James A. Baker and the Hon. Deborah G. Hankinson, Justices, Dallas Court of Appeals, 1995-1996.
Diana has represented parties in more than 130 appeals and original proceedings in a variety of courts including the Supreme Court of Texas, all Texas courts of appeals, the Fifth, Eighth, and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and other state appellate courts around the nation. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Diana's appellate practice includes all aspects of post-trial proceedings, appellate briefing, and oral argument before state and federal courts. Diana provides pre-trial litigation support and appellate support for trial teams throughout Texas.
Diana was named a Texas Lawyers Rising Star in Texas Monthly magazine for 2005. She was named a Texas Super Lawyer and listed in Texas Monthly magazine for the years 2007, 2008, and 2009. Diana was also selected and listed in Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition for Appellate Law in 2010. Diana is a member of the Fifth Circuit Bar Association, and serves as a co-chair in the Appellate Section of the State Bar of Texas. Cyndy is a shareholder of Cooper & Scully. She graduated magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University in 1982, received her J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law Magna Cum Laude, in 1985 and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1985. She is also licensed in Oklahoma. Cyndy is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Her honors include Order of the Coif and she was selected in Texas Monthly's Super Lawyers, Medical Malpractice Defense beginning in 2008.
Kevin is a founding partner of Uzick & Oncken. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1982, received his JD from South Texas College of Law in 1987, and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1987. Kevin's practice has focused on defending healthcare providers since 1992 and he is certified as a Diplomat in Medical Professional Liability by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. Kevin has been lead trial counsel in excess of 100 jury trials to verdict and has tried cases throughout Texas and in other states via admission pro hac vice. He has authored numerous articles dealing with medical negligence issues and is a frequent lecturer at CME and CLE events. Brian is a senior partner with Johnson Trent. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas in 1978 and obtained his JD from the University of Houston Law Center in 1981. Board certified in personal injury law since 1987, Brian has successfully defended catastrophic injury cases, including claims involving brain-damaged babies, against some of the most successful plaintiff medical malpractice attorneys in Texas. Brian has been named as one of the Best Lawyers in America in medical malpractice. He has also been named a "Texas Super Lawyer" on numerous occasions. Brian was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2000. Brian considers it an honor and privilege to defend physicians.
Dick is a partner with Smith Adams Law LLP. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1973 and received his JD from the University of Texas in 1973. He has more than 30 years' experience representing physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice litigation. He primarily handles multidefendant cases with significant damage exposure, but has experience in handling all types of cases involving allegations of medical negligence.
He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has tried more than 75 cases to verdict. He is an "AV" peer review rated lawyer. He has been named a Texas Super Lawyer in Medical Malpractice Defense for multiple years and has been named as well to the Best Lawyers in America in Medical Malpractice Law.
Dick has been voted into the American Board of Trial Advocates and recently been named a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Jim is a cofounder of Ewbank & Harris, P.C. He graduated from Southwestern University in 1977 and received his J.D. from Baylor Law School in 1980. Jim has tried over 110 jury trials, mostly in defense of physicians. In addition to defending physicians in litigation and at the Texas Medical Board, he does coverage work, pre-suit claims evaluation and drafts policies for medical liability insurers. Jim received the Outstanding Law Review Award by the Texas Bar Foundation in 1982. He was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law from 1986 – 1998. Jim is a frequent speaker at State and local seminars on civil trial techniques and substantive areas of civil litigation and has been named a "Texas Superlawyer" by Law & Politics Magazine in multiple years. He was elected as an Advocate to the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2000.
Terri is a cofounder of Ewbank & Harris, P.C. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, in 1983, from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree as a Physician Assistant. Terri became NCCPA Certified in 1985 and was on the Board of Directors of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants from 1986-1989. She practiced as a Physician Assistant from 1985-1990. Terri received her J.D. from the University of Houston School of Law in 1991. She was elected to the Order of the Barristers and was honored with the Excellence in Advocacy Award. Terri's practice focus is primarily medical malpractice defense, having tried over 20 medical malpractice cases, all to a defense verdict. She also defends Texas Medical & Dental Board complaints.
Ken is the Senior Partner of Patterson and Wagner, L.L.P. He graduated from Baylor University in 1978, received his JD from Baylor School of Law in 1980, and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980. Ken earned both a BA and JD from Baylor University in just 6 years. He was a successful member of the Baylor Moot Court Competition Team, and won the National Championship for Baylor in the 1980 National Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers. Admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980, Ken immediately went to work for a law firm active in the area of medical malpractice defense and acquired extensive courtroom experience. In over thirty years of practice, he has tried cases in nineteen different counties across the state of Texas. Ken has had many trial and appellate successes in non-medical matters and has completed 68 major medical malpractice trials. He has achieved a favorable verdict for his clients in over 96% of the cases he has tried.
Steve received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1983. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983, and became board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law in 1988. For the past 27 years, Steve's practice has concentrated on defending doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. He has tried in excess of 100 medical malpractice cases to jury verdict. He has tried cases involving catastrophic injuries, including brain damage, paraplegia, quadriplegia, birth and neonatal injuries, and alleged wrongful death. Steve is designated as an Advocate by the American Board of Trial Advocates, and was named "Rio Grande Valley's Craftiest Defense Attorney" by a survey of his peers.
Richard is a founding partner of McKibben, Woolsey & Villareal. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1983, received his masters from Southern Methodist University in 1985 and earned his J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas in 1989. Jim is a founding partner of Hund, Dryer, Wilkinson & Wright. He graduated Cum Laude from Baylor Law School and in 1988 and became Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Specialization. Jim's practice has focused on civil trial law with an emphasis in medical malpractice defense. Jim also has an active civil appellate practice with over 50 published appellate decisions and has tried many complex civil trial cases to verdict. He was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers at the age of 47.
Paul is a founding partner of Robles, Bracken & Hughes. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1980 and earned his J.D. with honors, from Brigham Young University in 1983. Paul in licensed in Texas and Arizona. Paul specializes primarily in medical malpractice defense. He is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jeff is a partner in the Houston office of Andrews Kurth. He graduated summa cum laude and Order of the Coif from the Ohio State University Moritz School of Law in 1977 and received his undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohio. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1978 and served as Briefing Attorney to the Hon. Judge John V. Singleton, Chief Judge of the United States Federal District Court for the Southern District of Texas in 1977 and 1978 before entering private practice in 1979. During his over 32 years in practice, with nearly 100 cases tried to verdict, Jeff has focused on defending healthcare providers in addition to defending clients involved in other personal injury litigation. Jeff also has an extensive administrative health law practice, representing physicians and other healthcare providers in disciplinary actions before their respective licensing boards, including representation of well over 100 physicians at the Texas Medical Board.

Laura is a partner in the Houston office of Andrews Kurth. She graduated magna cum laude, Order of the Coif and Order of the Barrons from the University of Houston School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1997. Before being admitted to the Texas Bar, Laura practiced as a registered nurse in Texas, having graduated cum laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1986. Laura also practiced nursing in British Columbia and earned a law degree from the University of British Columbia.
Laura's practice covers all phases of the defense of health care liability claims, including discovery and pretrial matters, motion practice, settlement negotiations and trial. She also has experience representing health care institutions, physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers in disciplinary actions before their respective licensing boards, including representation of nearly 50 physicians before the Texas Medical Board. Laura is a lecturer for health care clients and has defended various types of personal injury and insurance matters, including toxic torts and products liability. She is very active in GHSHRM, the Houston Chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, having served on the Board of GHSHRM as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Director.
Frank is a member in the firm Myers Doyle. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983 and received his JD from the University of Texas in 1986. For more than 20 years, Frank has focused his practice on healthcare issuesrepresenting doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers, along with pharmaceutical companies in federal and state court litigation. Frank has been a member of national "expert witness teams" in developing physician testimony for the defense of pharmaceutical companies in complex mass tort litigation. Victoria is lead counsel of the Law Office of Victoria Soto and concentrates her practice in defending physicians before the Texas Medical Board. She graduated from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1995 and the Texas Bar in 2001. Beginning in 2001, Victoria served as a prosecuting attorney for the Texas Medical Board. During her tenure with the Board, she resolved a record number of cases, becoming a leader among her peers in case resolution and Agreed Orders resulting from Informal Settlement Conferences. Since leaving the medical board in 2005, Victoria has represented several hundred physicians before the Texas Medical Board. Her experience and extensive knowledge of medical board rules, procedures and policies coupled with her experience in working closely withboard administrators, affords her clients a seasoned and experienced representative before the Texas Medical Board. Victoria frequently speaks to hospitals and medical groups within the state of Texas regarding the Texas Medical Board and its disciplinary process. Michael is a founding member of Wallach & Andrews, P.C. He is a native of Fort Worth, obtaining his B.A. with honors from Texas Christian University in 1975 and his J.D. with honors from the University of Houston Law Center in 1979. As a board certified specialist in personal injury trial law and civil trial law, he has spent much of his career defending physicians and health care providers in professional liability lawsuits and disciplinary proceedings before various state agencies and peer review bodies. Linda Stimmel is a Partner with Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP.
