Jill Steinberg

Jill Steinberg

Jill M. Steinberg is a shareholder in the Memphis office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. She has tried more than 25 jury trials and has appeared before the Tennessee Court of Appeals, Tennessee Supreme Court and Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Highlights of her defense litigation career include coordinating more than 100 medical malpractice lawsuits for a large hospital system; defending more than 100 physicians and clinics as lead counsel for the largest medical malpractice carrier in Tennessee; and acting as regional medical negligence counsel for a nursing home chain in approximately 50 cases. Ms. Steinberg is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in Medical Malpractice Law, Personal Injury Litigation and Product Liability Litigation. She is also listed in Mid-South Super Lawyers in Personal Injury Defense: Medical, and ranked among that publication's top 50 attorneys in Memphis and top 100 attorneys in Tennessee. C. J. Gideon, Jr.

C.J. is a founding partner of Gideon, Cooper & Essary. He graduated from Duke University, magna cum laude, in 1975 and earned his JD from Vanderbilt University in 1978. He was then admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1978, the U.S. Supreme Court in 1989, and the U. S. Claims Court in 1990. C.J practices in the areas of medical malpractice, hospital malpractice litigation, peer review and credentialing proceedings, health care administrative litigation, product liability, personal injury litigation, administrative litigation, and business litigation. He has been recognized as one of Tennessee’s Top 150 Lawyers and listed in Best Lawyers in America, Best Lawyers in Nashville, Super Lawyers, Leaders in their Field/Leading Individual (Litigation, Medical Malpractice Defense, Tennessee) by Chambers USA 2010, and as an In Charge Decision Maker – Legal, Nashville Post. Dixie Cooper

Dixie is a founding partner of Gideon, Cooper & Essary. She graduated with honors from The University of South Alabama in 1984. She earned her JD in 1987 from The University of Alabama. She is admitted to practice in Tennessee, Alabama and Texas, as well as the U. S. District Courts for Tennessee and the U.S. Supreme Court. Her professional activities include membership in the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations, the Texas Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women. Dixie was listed in Best Lawyers of America in 2009 and 2010 and Tennessee Super Lawyers Mid-South for 2010. She is a recipient of the Martindale-Hubbell AV preeminent rating. David A. King

David A. King

David is a member of the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC with offices in Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1982, received his JD from the University of Tennessee and was admitted into the Tennessee Bar in 1985. David is co-chair of the firm's Tort and Insurance Litigation Group. He has significant experience and success as a trial lawyer in federal and state court and in arbitration proceedings, focusing on the areas of healthcare, product liability, insurance and broker-dealer litigation. He also counsels clients on tort reform, risk management and healthcare operations issues. David served on the firm's Executive Committee from 2006 - 2008. Lee is a member of the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC with offices in Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. Lee graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1968, received his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt Law School and was admitted into the Tennessee Bar in 1974. He is co-chair of the firm's Tort and Insurance Litigation Group. Lee has extensive experience in the trials of major civil cases, both jury and non-jury, in state and federal courts, including scores of medical malpractice cases against doctors, nurses and hospitals. He also has participated in the successful mediation of hundreds of cases during his 35-year career. In addition to medical malpractice litigation, he has handled a broad variety of litigation in other fields, including complex business, commercial and healthcare reimbursement cases, class actions, insurance, ERISA, and constitutional law claims. He has served as lead counsel in a large number of high profile cases with extensive media and public interest. He serves as chair of the Board of Directors of Tennesseans for Fair & Impartial Courts, a non-profit corporation organized to support the retention election of appellate judges in Tennessee. He is a member of the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations and served as president of the Nashville Bar Association in 1985. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt Law School where he has taught Professional Responsibility for 10 years.
