Board of Directors

Capson's Board of Directors is comprised of professionals with vast experience in the healthcare and insurance industries. On the business side, they have successfully built and managed organizations that generate growth while creating value. On the healthcare side, our directors understand the challenges faced in today's healthcare system and know that business as usual is a model that's simply unsustainable. They are committed to providing sound business guidance while helping find new ways to improve the business of healthcare.

In addition to Capson executives Maury Magids, Tom Cotten and Lanette Matthews, the individuals below are also members of the Capson Board of Directors:

Douglas Colosky

Doug is the Underwriting Manager and member of the management team of Specialty Lines at Beazley. He joined the organization in 2005 in the Farmington, CT office and has also lived and worked in the UK for Beazley. His responsibilities include management of specialist services to underwriting teams, development and implementation of business strategies for Specialty Lines, long term profitability, annual detailed business planning, and design and implementation of controls for underwriting quality, authority and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Beazley in 2005, Doug spent 5 years with Travelers in various claim and underwriting capacities. Doug started in the insurance industry with Executive Risk in the legal department, is a graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law and is licensed to practice in CT and NY. Beazley plc is a specialist insurance business with operations in Europe, the U.S., Asia and Australia. Beazley manages five Lloyd's syndicates. Beazley's underwriters in the U.S. focus on writing a range of specialist insurance products. In the admitted market, coverage is provided by Beazley Insurance Company, Inc., an A.M. Best A-rated carrier licensed in all 50 states.

Paul F. Brown

Paul is managing director of BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners, L.P. (BCBSVP), a healthcare venture capital fund in which 11 Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plans have invested. He manages the fund through a unique partnership with Sandbox Industries and senior executives from participating Blue Plans. In addition to managing BCBSVP, Paul is also the vice president of venturing at BlueCross BlueShield Association (BCBSA) and a managing director of Sandbox Industries. In addition to Capson, Paul also currently serves on the boards of Phreesia and Nexidia. Before managing BCBSVP, Paul was Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of BCBSA. Prior to joining BCBSA in 2002, Paul was a partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis, LLP. He is a graduate of The University of Utah and The Northwestern University School of Law.

John A. Dieck, M.D.

Dr. Dieck earned his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he also completed his residency training in internal medicine. Dr. Dieck concluded his training with a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at St. Luke's Hospital, the Texas Heart Institute, Houston, Texas. Dr. Dieck has been in private practice in Austin since 1990. During this time, he has served as the chief of catheterization laboratories for Seton Medical Center, St. David's Episcopal Hospital, and South Austin Medical Center, and as the director of heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Seton Medical Center. Dr. Dieck is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the Clinical Council of the American Heart Association, the Travis County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Dieck is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Jon M. Foster

Jon was recently promoted to president of a regional group of facilities for Hospital Corporation of America, better known as HCA. He now oversees 52,000 employees and 47 hospitals in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Kansas. The group has annual revenue of $11 billion. For the past 10 years, Jon led St. David's Healthcare, a $3.0 billion, six hospital healthcare system with 21 locations throughout Central Texas. Mr. Foster has over 24 years of experience in healthcare and hospital administration. Foster earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor University and his master's degree from Trinity University.

Nancy Dunlap

Nancy is currently on the board of directors of St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas (a 912-bed hospital located in the Texas Medical Center) and chairs the Joint Conference Committee. Nancy served for 9 years on the board of directors of St. Luke's Episcopal Health System – a multi-hospital system that includes the Texas Heart Institute at the flagship St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. Beyond St. Luke's international reputation in heart disease, the Hospital also includes advance treatment programs in 24 clinical services. Advanced treatment programs are available in orthopedics, oncology, urology, digestive disorders and neurosciences. In addition, St. Luke's is a teaching hospital for the University of Texas Health Science Center and Baylor College of Medicine.
